Belmond La Samanna, long the leading luxury resort in St Martin, is planning a relaunch.

The luxe property is planning to reopen on Dec. 10, executives said this week.

The property had been shuttered since Hurricane Irma in 2018.

The property, which is set on 55 acres on the spectacular Long Bay on the French side of St Martin, has 83 rooms and suites, along with eight villas, three restaurants, two bars and two pools, along with a signature spa.

“We are very excited about the forward momentum and growth that is taking place for our island this year. The confirmed reopening of Belmond La Samanna is a significant step in reasserting our position as the destination of choice in the Caribbean,” said Valerie Damaseau, first vice president of St Martin. “Working closely together with our partners and stakeholders, we are able to leverage our strength and increase our impact in the marketplace and look forward to working with Belmond La Samanna to ensure the successful debut of this new and improved legendary resort.”

It’s another big step for St Martin’s recovery, as another of the island’s top resorts, the Grand Case Beach Club, is planning to reopen its doors in October.
