Antigua has become one of the Caribbean’s hubs for hotel investment in recent years, and now another major brand is coming to the island: Rosewood.

Rosewood Hotels and Resorts has been tapped by Vancouver-based Replay Destinations to manage the new Rosewood Half Moon Bay Antigua, which is slated to debut in Antigua in 2021.

The OBMI-designed property will be located on 132 oceanfront acres on the storied Half Moon Bay, the site of the former Half Moon Bay Hotel, itself an iconic destination dating back to the 1950s.

The new Rosewood will feature 47 pavilion-style suites, including a three-bedroom presidential suite.

Every unit will have ocean views, along with private infinity plunge pools, hammocks, open-air baths and showers and live orchid walls.

“With its secluded location and breath-taking beach, Half Moon Bay is one of the world’s most stunning hidden gems, and a natural destination for Rosewood’s affluential explorers,” says Sonia Cheng, chief executive officer of Rosewood Hotel Group.  “We look forward to integrating Rosewood’s Sense of Place philosophy into Antigua’s incredible natural environment to create unforgettable experiences for our guests.”

Rosewood Half Moon Bay Antigua will also have a residential component including branded oceanfront and ocean-view villas, along with 13 home parcels.

“We are honoured to be the stewards responsible for reimagining this legendary property that is so loved by the people of Antigua and for almost 50 years attracted travelers from around the world,” said Michael Coyle, chief executive officer of Replay Destinations. “By partnering with Rosewood Hotels, who not only have a storied history in Antigua, they also bring to Half Moon Bay a philosophy and approach for their guests that focuses on the distinct culture, history and geography of each locale. Together, we believe that what we will create at Half Moon Bay, Antigua will be the finest resort in the Caribbean and one of the finest in the world.”

Rosewood will soon open another major resort, the Rosewood at Baha Mar in Nassau, later this year.

The company had enjoyed a long presence in Antigua at the Jumby Bay resort until that property was taken over by the Oetker Collection in 2017.
