Global tennis supertsar Serena Williams went on her honeymoon this week, and, like more and more celebrities, she chose the wider Caribbean region.

Williams, the greatest women’s tennis player in history, spent her honeymoon with new husband Alexis Ohanian at the Kamalame Cay resort off the coast of Andros in the Out Islands of The Bahamas.

Williams announced her choice in a post on Instagram, with a short video showing her plush villa at the resort.

“A week in paradise,” Williams wrote, thanking online travel agency Booking.com for “helping us find the perfect honeymoon villa.”

The video was made by Ohanian, who posted photos of himself with his DJI Phantom drone at Kamalame Cay.

Andros, the largest island in the Bahamas, has long been one of the more mysterious — and exotic destinations in the region, a haven for adventurers and fishermen in particular.

Kamalame Cay is a mix of 27 seaside rooms and suites scattered across cottages, bungalows and Bali-style beach houses on a 96-acre island.

The Magnolia villa.

But Kamalame Cay also has a portfolio of 10 villas, and Williams and Ohanian chose the 3,600-square-foot Magnolia, with a starting nightly rate of $2,955.
