Norwegian Keeps Up Strong Traffic Growth, Fleet Expansion

By: - April 6th, 2017

Fast-growing carrier Norwegian continued its strong numbers in March, according to the company’s latest report.

Norwegian carried 2.4 million passengers in March, up 12 percent compared to the same month in 2016.

Total traffic growth increased by 16 percent, while capacity growth increased by 22 percent.

“We are very pleased to see that more passengers chose to fly Norwegian,” said Norwegian CEO Bjørn Kjos. “The growth is primarily driven by our international traffic, which is becoming increasingly important in the company’s global expansion.”

The company also continued its fleet renewal last month, taking delivery of three new Boeing 737-800s and one Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

Norwegian has been ramping up its Caribbean routes in the last year, with expanded service to Martinique and Guadeloupe out of a host of Northeast destinations.
