A gourmet picnic in the Mexican Caribbean

We’ve seen free phone calls, butler service, 15-foot boats and guitar lessons included in packages at Caribbean all-inclusive resorts, and now here’s another surprising perk:

At Mexico’s Grand Velas Riviera Maya, guests departing on excursions can request a gourmet picnic to take with them to enjoy as they explore Playa Del Carmen and beyond.

Gourmet Picnics

The “Picnic in Paradise,” includes four varieties of salads; smoked salmon, French cheeses and charcuterie; fresh baked baguettes; roasted turkey breast and beef; and a duck terrine made from executive chef Michel Mustiere’s recipe.

The moveable feast must be ordered 48 hours in advance, and also comes with a bottle of red or white wine; dessert; and a blanket and cushions so guests can enjoy their al fresco refreshment in comfort.
