A New Bed and Breakfast in Puerto Rico

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - January 14, 2016

Puerto Rico’s tourism board has been putting a major emphasis on developing the island’s stock of small hotels and guest houses in recent years.

And now it has another one.

The San Sebastián Bed and Breakfast has opened in the municipality of San Sebastian, with four bedrooms and a Creole-inspired atmosphere.

“Yaiza Arvelo Serrano and Edwin Cortés Seguinot, owners of the B&B in San Sebastián and new entrepreneurs in the tourism industry, believed that tourism development could blossom with the first two Bed and Breakfasts certified by the PRTC program,” said Ingrid Rivera Rocafort, Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company. “With an investment of nearly $65,000, the opening of the B&B in San Sebastián will increase room availability by four units, as well as offer three direct and five indirect jobs.”

The property includes a complete breakfast (one that includes local produce), gourmet Puerto Rican coffee and free Wi-Fi, among other amenities.

“The opening of this Bed and Breakfast, has opened the possibility to a new lifestyle in which we share our home, our people and our country with individuals throughout the world,” Serrano said.
