Tobago is expanding its hotel stock.
The island’s House of Assembly has purchased two properties at Sanctuary and Manta Lodge, according to Tourism Secretary Tracy Davidson-Celestine.
The pair of properties will add 160 rooms to the island’s hotel stock.
“Works on the Sanctuary project has started,” the Secretary explained. “This year we will see works starting on Manta Lodge with an aim to having it ready February, or the first quarter of the fiscal period, and having Sanctuary ready at the end of the fiscal period, just in time for the start of winter 2016.”
She also said the island’s Division of Tourism was partnering with the Trinidad and Tobago Ministry of Tourism and the country’s Tourism Development Company to access their resources.
Incentives have reportedly been provided to hoteliers “to ensure Tobago has an adequate room stock,” she said.
