OAS Mission to Observe St Vincent and the Grenadines Elections

A mission from the Organization of American States is observing this week’s general elections in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The mission, which arrived on Dec. 3, will observe the Dec. 9 vote.

The mission is being led by Ambassador Jacinth Henry-Martin, Chief of Staff to OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro, and includes observers from 11 OAS member countries including Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Barbados, Ecuador, Guyana, Jamaica, Mexico, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United States.

It will be the fifth time that an OAS team has observed the country’s vote.

The OAS said it would have a presence in the country’s 15 electoral districts.

Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves’ ruling Unity Labour Party will face off against the the opposition New Democratic Party and Opposition Leader Arnhim Eustace.
