JetBlue Is Adding a New Nonstop Route From Westchester to Puerto Rico

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - May 17, 2024

If you’ve been following the Caribbean lately, you know just how many new routes have been coming to Puerto Rico since the pandemic. Seemingly every week there’s a new nonstop route from somewhere in the mainland United States.

It’s a movement that’s driven record-breaking tourism numbers on the island, as flights and hotels remain cheap and travel demand continues to strengthen.

Now, another new route is coming to the island. JetBlue has announced plans to kick off a new nonstop route between Westchester County, New York and San Juan, Puerto Rico, with service launching on Oct. 27.

The new nonstop route from Westchester County Airport will be operating daily, making a new option for travelers outside of the city and in nearby Fairfield County, Connecticut to get to the Caribbean hotspot.

It’s also a great way for travelers to connect to the rest of the Caribbean through San Juan’s growing presence as a regional hub, whether you’re traveling to to the US or British Virgin Islands or even nearby St Barth (with popular luxury airline Tradewind).

Tradewind flies to Anguilla, St Barth and Virgin Gorda as part of its Caribbean network out of San Juan.

“It’s official JetBlue is landing in the Hudson Valley with brand new service to Puerto Rico,” said US Senator Chuck Schumer, in a statement provided to Caribbean Journal. “This new route will help provide easy connections for tourists and for families who have loved ones on the island.”

So what will the new route cost?

A sample itinerary in late October showed a roundtrip fare of as low as $262.60. It should be noted that this is for JetBlue’s cheapest, non-refundable fare without baggage.
