Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has announced the establishment of a joint team to examine the issue of internal self-government for Tobago.

The move comes at the request of Orville London, Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly.

London has been a major advocate for internal self-government in recent years.

Persad-Bissessar told London the news in a letter this week, reaffirming what she called in a statement her government’s “commitment to internal self-Government for Tobago.”

The team includes Environment Minister Ganga Singh, Arts and Multiculturalism Minister Lincoln Douglas, Food Production Minister Devant Maharaj and Minister of Tobago Development Dr Delmon Baker.
