The Caribbean Basin’s hotel boom is surging.

Hilton Worldwide announced the opening of its latest hotel in the region this week, the new Hampton by Hilton Panama in Panama City.

The 108-room new-construction hotel is the sub-brand’s first in the country.

“This opening marks the fifth Latin American country with a Hampton by Hilton hotel,” said Phil Cordell, global head for focused service and Hampton brand management for Hilton Worldwide. “We’re thrilled to expand into Panama and look forward to introducing the brand’s friendly, authentic service and consistent, quality amenities to a new market of business and leisure travelers.”

The 15-story property is one of five Hilton Worldwide hotels in Panama and 65 hotels and resorts in the wider region.

“This opening is another great example of Hilton Worldwide’s commitment to expand in Latin America by introducing our portfolio of brands to key markets,” said Tom Potter, senior vice president for the Caribbean, Mexico and Latin America at Hilton Worldwide. “We look forward to welcoming visitors to this remarkable country with the distinct attributes of our award-winning brands.”
