Earthquake Causes Light Shaking in Cayman Islands

The Cayman Islands was shaken by a rare earthquake on Wednesday morning, according to data from the United States Geological Survey.

The 4.2-magnitude quake was the latest in a string of recent tremblors in the northern portion of the Caribbean.

Its epicentre was about 62 kilometres south of George Town, and about 372 kilometres south-southwest of Trinidad, Cuba.

It struck at a depth of 10 kilometres at around 6:55 AM local time in the Cayman Islands.

The quake came after a series of earthquakes in northern Cuba in recent months.
