MONTEGO BAY — The Spanish Court hotel in the New Kingston neighbourhood of Jamaica’s capital is set to complete an expansion project.
The hotel, which currently has 110 rooms, is planning to complete the addition of 15 more rooms by February, according to the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association.
It’s part of what JHTA officials hope is a boost for tourism in Kingston and the country’s south coast.
“We have a lot of potential on that part of the island,” said Evelyn Smith, the president of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association, who was speaking at a press briefing at the Caribbean Travel Marketplace conference.
Several other properties are also undergoing work, with a $10 million upgrade launched at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel and a recently-completed refurbishment of the Strawberry Hill hotel.
