As its nears what would be a record 2 million stopover visitors in 2013, Jamaica has high hopes for its cruise sector, too.

Jamaican Tourism Minister Dr Wykeham McNeill says the Ministry is projecting a record 1.4 million cruise visitors to the island in 2014.

McNeill was speaking this week at a keynote address for airport and customs staff hosted by the Jamaica Tourist Board.

He also said the country was working to diversify its source markets, with in eye toward places like Northern and Southern Europe.

“As we boost our marketing of destination Jamaica the Ministry along with all our industry partners are making every effort through our policies and programmes to ensure that Jamaica remains attractive to both investors and visitors,” he said.
