PORTSMOUTH — The Cabrits Resort project is making progress in Dominica.

The development of the 68-room hotel is being funded by Kingdom of Morocco to the tune of around $30 million.

The Cabrits Resort and Spa hotel, which is expected to open in 2014, is slated to include a conference facility for more than 100 people, a spa, restaurants and a pool.

It is located on the edge of Portsmouth at the entrance to the Cabrits National Park, which is known in the region as the site of Dominica’s Jazz ‘N Creole Festival, and just down the road from Purple Turtle Beach.

The project first broke ground near the end of 2011.

In May, it announced that it was seeking a company to manage the property, a search that continues.
