Nevis Tourism Minister Mark Brantley recently met with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts Founder Isadore Sharp in the latter’s private residence in Toronto.

The meeting, which came during Brantley’s wider trip to Canada.

The two sides discussed developments in Nevis, particularly the island’s efforts to develop geothermal energy near Nevis Peak.

Brantley said the Four Seasons Nevis Resort had had a “transformative” impact on the island in the more than two decades since its opened.

Sharp remains the Chairman of Four Seasons Hotel and Resorts; the company was taken private in 2007 in a transaction backed by Saudi Prince al-Waleed Bin Talal and Bill Gates.

“Mr Sharp is as gracious and as enigmatic and engaging as any human being I’ve met,” Brantley said. “It was my honour to have been able to spend some time with him.”
