Outgoing Turks and Caicos Governor Ric Todd’s next post will be in Cyprus, the government announced this week.

Todd has been appointed the British High Commissioner to Cyprus, where he will succeed Matthew Kidd. Todd will take up the appointment in April 2014.

The Governor, who will depart from the Turks and Caicos Islands in September, has served as governor since 2011.

He will be succeeded as Governor by Peter Beckingham.

“I am delighted to be appointed British High Commissioner to Cyprus.  As a history student I am fascinated by Cyprus’s rich history,” Todd said in a statement. “Relations between the UK and Cyprus are not only deep rooted and strong but also full of potential.  I look forward to working together with all the communities in Cyprus to achieve our shared objectives.”
