Curacao Prime Minister Ivar Asjes is visiting The Netherlands for the first time since taking office in June.

Asjes met with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte at the Ministry of General Affairs in Amsterdam, according to a statement from the government of the Netherlands.

On Saturday, he will be received by King Willem-Alexander at the Eikenhorst in Wassenaar.

Asjes was sworn in in early June, taking over for Daniel Hodge, who had been serving for about a year on an interim basis.

Asjes is the leader of the Pueblo Soberano political party.
