Royal Caribbean will be returning to Barbados after removing all of its ships from the Southern Caribbean route last year.

The news was announced by Barbados Tourism Minister Richard Sealy, following what the government called “intensive” negotiations.

In a release, Barbados announced that two ships would be touching Barbados. The Jewel of the Seas, which began sailing in May, will come to Barbados year round, while the Quantum of the Seas will have incremental service from November 2014.

“I would like to think that the leadership of Barbados had something to do with that,” Sealy said. “Certainly, the relationship with the port project would be part of it. But we have done our part.”

The only other year round cruise ship heading to Barbados had been the Carnival Valor.
