The Caribbean Society of Hotel Association Executives recently elected its new officers for the 2013-2014 term.

The elections took place at the organization’s Annual General Meeting ahead of the Caribbean Travel Marketplace last month in the Bahamas.

Lisa Hamilton, president of the US Virgin Islands Hotel and Tourism Association, was elected for a second term as head of CSHAE, with Gilda Gumbs-Samuel, executive director of the Anguilla Hotel & Tourism Association, re-elected as vice president.

Neil Forrester, general manager of the Antigua Hotels & Tourism Association, was re-elected as treasurer, while Stacey Cox, association executive at the Turks and Caicos Hotel and Tourism Association, was elected as secretary.

“We continue to find that most islands are faced with the same issues so we shared our best practices in hopes that what is successful in one destination can be used to affect change in other countries,” Hamilton said.  “Under the banner of advocacy we are concerned about the various forms of taxation as well as the high cost of energy as these items impact our operating costs.”
