The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Tourism is developing a “National Community Tourism Plan” to improve growth in the sector.

The announcement of the plan, which was made in San Juan de la Maguana, was made by Deputy Tourism Minister Luis Simó, who said the province boasted a number of “wonders,” from the Four Dams to extinct volcanoes and rivers.

Tourism Minister Francisco Javier Garcia’s programme aims to find an alternative for the development of community tourism products in order to overcome poor tourism in these areas.

The ministry is also working with the country’s Ministry of Environment to ensure cleanliness and conservation in the development of the country’s tourism sector.

It has also looked to improve training and awareness in tourism for those in the San Juan province.
