Martelly, who left Haiti on Wednesday, will stay in Miami for a few days to “continue the process of recovery,” according to the National Palace.

He has expressed a desire to return to the country to resume his work schedule.

The surgery was arthroscopic in nature.

He will be returning home next week for a visit with Mexican President Felipe Calderon.
