Trinidad Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has presented a Green Paper on internal self-government for the island of Tobago to former Presidnet Arthur Robinson.

The Green Paper is currently out for public comment.

The Prime Minister said that consideration of “greater autonomy and responsibility to the people of Tobago over matters that directly impact Tobago” had been a campaign promise of her People’s Partnership party.

She was joined at the presentation ceremony by Ashworth Jack, political leader of the Tobago Organisation of the People and Minority Leader of the Tobago House of Assembly.

Robinson, who served as President of Trinidad and Tobago from 1997 to 2003, has long been an advocate for Tobago self-government.
