OAS Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza announced today that Canadian Frederic Bolduc had been appointed the the organization’s new Special Representative in Haiti.

“The OAS is willing to continue our cooperation and collaboration with Haiti following the guidelines established by its elected authorities, and I am convinced that Mr Bolduc will further strengthen these important ties with one of our founding Member Countries,” Insulza said.

Most recently, Bolduc was the director of the Quebec Government Office in Washington. He formerly worked on Inter-American initiatives as head of multicultural affairs of Quebec’s government in Washington.

The announcement comes after the OAS pledged last month to continue to work with the Haitian government and other members of the global community to support development efforts in Haiti.
