Buju Banton Moved to New Prison

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - August 7, 2011

Reggae star Buju Banton, who had been set to serve his 10-year sentence in a jail in Florida, has been moved to the Adams County Correctional Center in Natchez, Mississippi. “The judge recommended that he serve his time in Florida, but there were no beds in Miami, and the ultimate decision was made by the Bureau of Prisons,” said David Markus, Banton’s attorney. “We are hopeful that when a bed opens up [in Florida] that we can get him transferred so that it is easier on his family [and us] to see him.” [Jamaica Observer]
