A New Lawmaker in Belize

Dr Omar Figueroa is the newest Member of the National Assembly in Belize.

Figueroa emerged victorious in the latest by-election for the Cayo North constituency, following the resignation of former MP Joseph Mahmud in November.

He defeated Richard Harrison in the election, which took place last week.

Figueroa was officially sworn in on Monday by Belize Governor General Sir Colville Young.

Figueroa was additionally appointed as a Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister, the government announced.
