Avianca Launching New Caribbean Flights From Miami, New York

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - January 11, 2022

Colombian airline Avianca is launching a pair of major new routes to the Caribbean, Caribbean Journal has learned.

Both routes will service the increasingly hot destination of Cartagena on Colombia’s Caribbean coast.

That includes new daily nonstop flights from Miami to Cartagena, which are set to kick off on March 27.

It also includes new daily nonstop flights from New York to Cartagena, with service launching on March 28.

It’s part of a broader plan for the airline to open 50 new nonstop routes in the next three years, the carrier said.

Last year, Avianca launched 17 new point-to-point routes across its network.

And it’s another major boost for Cartagena, home to one of the most charming historical towns in the wider Caribbean — along with a popular beach destination as well.

That’s led to strong hotel growth — the country’s current pipeline includes resorts from brands like Four Seasons, which has its name on a new residential resort in development, and even Hyatt’s Apple Leisure Group, which is taking over the former Conrad hotel with a new all-inclusive, Dreams-branded resort
