Grenadian Minister Calls for Refocusing

The coalition of individuals and groups that helped Grenada’s ruling NDC win the 2008 general elections needs to refocus and regroup, according to Tourism Minister and senior NDC official Peter David.

“Delivering on the basic human needs and eradicating the scourge of poverty and unemployment were fundamental to the promise of July 2008,” David said. “The promise that was embodied in the coalition of patriotic individuals and groups that joined the National Democratic Congress in bringing victory to the party in the general elections of July 2008.”

David said the government would move “at full speed” on several projects in St George in the next year, including the St George Market Square and the rehabilitation of the Roy St John Recreation Ground at Tanteen.

Both projects are being funded by the government of Venezuela.

“I’m optimistic of a better tomorrow and of a better New Year, if we work cooperatively, and if we regroup, refocus and recommit to the ideals that were central to the promise of 2008,” David said in his Christmas address.
