American Airlines’ New Nonstop Flights to Saint Lucia

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - June 4, 2021

American Airlines has launched a pair of new routes to the island of Saint Lucia, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The flights, which officially kicked off this weekend, include new nonstop flights from both Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.

“I am very happy to see that the tourism sector is at the beginning of a rebound and this can only augur well for more jobs, business linkages, and more revenue,” said Saint Lucia Tourism Minister Dominic Fedee. “We are optimistic about the start of what is projecting to be an exciting summer, which means that hundreds of more tourism employees will likely return to work, noting that several taxi drivers, tour guides, vendors, and others have been disadvantaged amid the pandemic. Together, we will work diligently to restore Saint Lucia’s tourism product better than before.”

Both the Dallas-Fort Worth-Saint Lucia and the New York-Saint Lucia flights will be operating with weekly service on Saturdays.

They’re both the product of American Airlines’ new “Northeast Alliance” with JetBlue, which is fueling a number of new Caribbean routes.

Indeed, Saint Lucia will be getting another new route in July, when JetBlue launches new service from Newark Liberty International Airport.

Saint Lucia has been open for tourism since June 2020.

And Saint Lucia recently announced that it would be opening up the destination for vaccinated travelers, meaning vaccinated visitors no longer have to stay at their hotels — they’re free to roam around the island.
