The BVI’s New Rules for Vaccinated Travelers

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - May 19, 2021

The British Virgin Islands’ new rules for fully vaccinated travelers have officially taken effect, as of mid-May.

So what does it all mean?

In what is a significant easing of its restrictions for the vaccinated, the rules mean fully vaccinated travelers have to take a test upon arrival to the BVI.

Once they get a negative result, typically within 24 hours, they are then free to roam the British Virgin Islands — most crucially, without the need for a four-day quarantine.

Fully vaccinated travelers will still have to provide proof of a negative PCR test within five days before they arrive in the British Virgin Islands, as do all travelers.

So who is considered fully vaccinated?

The BVI considers a traveler fully vaccinated if they have received both doses of a two-dose vaccine like Pfizer or Moderna or one-shot of a single-shot vaccine like Johnson & Johnson.

So what’s open?

The vast majority of the BVI’s tourism sector is open, from leading hotels like the Anegada Beach Club and Rosewood Little Dix Bay to private-island destinations like the Cooper Island Beach Club.
