How Sonesta St Maarten Is Readying for Travelers

By: Dana Niland - May 22, 2020

Sonesta’s pair of resorts in St Maarten is making a host of changes to prepare for the return of travelers to the island.

That includes the newly-launched PureCare program, centered around a “multi-step electrostatic application and coating process that works to kill and prevent future pathogens from living on treated surfaces.”

According to Sonesta, the system “has been proven to neutralize and constantly reduce pathogens by >99% on treated surfaces even after routine cleaning.”

The program will encompass all areas of both the Sonesta Maho and Sonesta Ocean Point resorts, from guest rooms and lobby areas to elevators and restaurants and bars.

The new health and safety measures cover everything from mobile check-in to infrared temperature checks for guests upon arrival.

Social distancing markers will be placed in all “congested” areas, while guests will receive sealed welcome packages with contactless room access bracelets.

Restaurants will give guests a QR code when viewing restaurant menus, while buffets will “eliminate all multi-touch points.”

Welcome amenity kits will include facemasks, hand sanitizers and gloves for guests, while “non-essential” items like magazines and decorative pillows will be removed from rooms.

It’s a major new standard of health and safety for the island’s hotels.

St Maarten has not yet announced when it will begin welcoming travelers again.
