Carnival Launches New Cruises to Mexico

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - December 2, 2019

Carnival Cruise Line has launched new cruises to Mexico out of the Port of San Diego.

The company’s Carnival Miracle ship is homeporting in San Diego, the first Carnival ship to sail out of the city in seven years.

Carnival Miracle will be sailing a range of cruises, from three-day weekend getaways to five-day voyages that spend two days in Cabo San Lucas and longer cruises to Cabo and Ensenada, all with a focus on the Mexican Riviera.

“We’re delighted to return to the Port of San Diego to offer this diverse schedule of convenient and attractive voyages for our guests,” said Fred Stein, Carnival’s vice president of revenue, deployment and itinerary planning. “The West Coast is an important and fast-growing market for Carnival.”

Carnival Mircale will be returning next year to San Diego for another winter schedule in 2020-2021, the company said.

“The Port of San Diego is excited for the return of Carnival Cruise Line as part of our homeported cruise business,” said Garry Bonelli, chairman of the board of port commissioners. “We are proud to once again partner with Carnival and we welcome Carnival Miracle to our cruise lineup.”

The cruises are part of a broader West Coast push by Carnival and other cruise brands.

One of Carnival’s other brands, Princess Cruises, has been sailing Mexican Riviera cruises out of Los Angeles this year, while Holland America has also been sailing cruises to Mexico out of San Diego.
