Traffic to Puerto Rico’s primary airport is surging, according to the latest totals from Mexico-based ASUR, which operates Luis Muñoz Marín airport.
San Juan’s air hub saw 7.6 percent growth in August compared to the same month in 2018, with a total of 815.043 passengers.
That was buoyed by a 9.6 percent jump in traffic from within the United States, according to the company.
For the year to date, Luis Muñoz Marín has handled an 11.4 percent jump in passenger traffic in the first eight months of the year.
That represents a total of more than 6.5 million passengers served.
ASUR operates 16 operates in Mexico, Colombia and Puerto Rico.
