Hilton is continuing to ramp up its expansion plans in Mexico, with plans to open its 100th hotel in the country by 2022, Caribbean Journal has learned.

Over the next three years, Hilton will add 30 new properties and more than 4,500 new hotel rooms to its existing portfolio of nearly 70 hotels in the country.

That includes several high-profile launches in the Mexican Caribbean, including the new Waldorf Astoria Cancun and Hilton Cancun, which will combine to debut 906 new rooms when they open in 2021.

That’s along with the new Conrad Playa Mita, set to debut with 324 rooms in 2020; the Canopy by Hilton Cancun La Isla, slated to open at the end of this year with 175 rooms; and a pair of new Curio Collection by Hilton hotels in Mexico City.

Hilton is also expanding its all-inclusive portfolio in Mexico thanks to a strategic alliance with Playa.

“As we continue expanding our robust portfolio in the Caribbean and Latin America, our team has strategically focused on growth opportunities in Mexico, as the country continues to welcome a record number of travelers,” said Juan Corvinos, vice president, development, Caribbean and Latin America, Hilton. “Today, Mexico represents Hilton’s fastest growing destination in the Caribbean and Latin America.”

Hilton currently has 150 hotels and resorts across the Caribbean and Latin America.
