Peninsula Papagayo, Costa Rica’s top luxury destination is planning a huge transformation project, Caribbean Journal has learned.

Luxury hospitality and development firm Gencom is leading a $100 million project, which will include a wave of enhancements on the peninsula, which is home to the Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica and the Andaz Costa Rica Resort.

“Peninsula Papagayo is an extraordinary destination where rich biodiversity and vivid landscapes meet the highest levels of geo-luxury across Latin America,” said Donald McGregor, Senior Vice President of Development and Managing Director for the Latin America region for Gencom, the developer of Peninsula Papagayo. “With our new line-up of amenities and experiences for everyone on Peninsula Papagayo to enjoy, we are nurturing a strong and cohesive community across the 1,400 acres of this private peninsula.”

The project includes new spaces at the Four Seasons including a new private concierge lounge, a reimagined spa, a hammam and a new poolside juice bar and a fitness center.

At the Andaz, the property is adding a new food-truck-style pool bar and a water taxi service.

Elsewhere on the peninsula, the company is planning a new golf clubhouse, a new gourmet market at the Marina Village, a new Dive Bar and a new daily outdoor nature program for kids called Cap Jaguar, among other additions.

Papagayo has also added a new bike-share program, which includes a fleet of 60 electric-assist bikes.
