A new eco-luxe outpost is coming to Panama.

It’s called Islas Secas Reserve & Lodge, and the new luxury resort is set to open its doors in January 2019.

The property, set in an environmentally protected zone 20 miles off the coast of Panama, will include nine “casitas.”

Interiors were designed by renowned interior designer Tom Scheerer, with facilities including a local restaurant, a “Hemingway-style” lounge and bar and a dive center.

Next year, the property will add a resort pool, while in 2020 it will debut a wellness pavilion and a four-bedroom villa with a private pool.

“Islas Secas Reserve & Lodge is located in an extraordinarily vibrant ecosystem with more than 750 species of fish and 128 species of plants,” said Sergio Nunez del Prado, Property Manager at Islas Secas Reserve & Lodge. “Designed to blend harmoniously with its surroundings with minimal environmental impact, Islas Secas Reserve & Lodge aims to preserve the rich biodiversity of the archipelago while connecting people with nature in its purest form.”

The property will have a focus on sustainability, from the use of solar energy to composting of all organic materials and using recycled wastewater for irrigation.

Indeed, 100 percent of the island’s energy consumption will be powered by a 300-meter long solar array.
