The newest addition to Belize’s fast-growing hotel pipeline is on track for 2020, and now we’ve gotten the exclusive first look at the new Alaia Belize.

The property, which will be part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection when it makes its debut, will feature a range of residences curated by Brazilian designer Debora Aguilar of Debora Aguiar Arquitetos, who has a specialty in the eco-luxury space.

Developer Andrew Ashcroft’s project will be set on the southern portion of Belize’s Ambergris Caye, with 35 units, along with 56 two-bedroom condos and eight oceanfront villas.

Residences will feature 1,200 square feet of interior space and almost 900 square feet of open-air living.

“Alaia was designed as an ‘eco-luxury’ hotel, where nature was determinant in our choices, whether in natural materials, in the various textures of fibers, stones, woods, fabrics, as in the reuse of stones, woods and coatings in general,” Aguilar tells Caribbean Journal. “Special areas are designed to stimulate and instigate the five senses, from the reception to the lobby, from the apartment to the circulations and from the beach bar to the spa.”

“We are creating a climate of intimacy, hospitality, sensuality and bringing the personality of Belize into the concept,” Aguilar says.
