It might have been the biggest star in the latest edition of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue: the island of Aruba.

The issue features shots from all over Aruba in its pages, putting the Dutch Caribbean island into what has become a national pop culture icon.

Aruba was chosen by the SI team for its secluded Caribbean location and sea landscape, offering a spectacular background for an issue including a host of global supermodels and world champions, including Kate Upton, Aly Raisman, Alexis Ren, Sailor Brinkley and Paige Spiranac, among others.

“It is a privilege to host such a dynamic, accomplished group of women in Aruba for the legendary Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue 2018,” said Ronella Tjin Asjoe-Croes, CEO of the Aruba Tourism Authority. “Aruba embraces female empowerment and we applaud these young women for pursuing their dreams and being pioneers of fearlessness and leadership. We look forward to unveiling Aruba, its award-winning beaches, rugged coastline and stunning scenery within Sports Illustrated.”
