Jamaica’s Ministry of Tourism has announced the appointment of a new director of tourism: Donovan White.

White will begin his term on Feb. 15, having served most recently as vice president of Cable & Wireless Business Jamaica.

His appointment was announced by Jamaica Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett.

White succeeds former Director of Tourism Paul Pennicook, who demitted office last year.

Donnie Dawson has been serving as interim director, and will continue in that role until White assumes office.

“We are pleased with Mr. White’s appointment,” said Tourism Minister. Edmund Bartlett.  “He brings a solid business acumen and marketing savvy to the Jamaica Tourist Board, having developed, managed and executed vertically integrated marketing and branding strategies for a range of industry sectors including media, telecoms, advertising and technology. As a member of Jamaica’s tourism team, I am confident that Mr. White’s experience will assist the JTB to continue on its current path of delivering increased tourism results through innovative public and private sector partnerships.”
