San Juan’s Must-Visit Italian Food Hall

Think Eataly, Puero Rican-style.

While it’s not affiliated with the global Italian food hall brand, San Juan’s Il Nuovo Mercato is the city’s destination food market, with a remarkable assortment of authentic Italian options.

Il Nuovo Mercato, owned by the company behind the famous Mercato Centralle in Florence, has seven “Bodegas”: the Fish “Bodega” with fresh catch of the day by local fishermen’s and seasonal fishes; a Typical Italian Pizzeria; a fresh handmade Pasta corner; “Veggie” with salads, soups and other recipes, and a large “Meat” space with grilled, fried and oven-cooked chicken, steaks, meatballs, special Burgers, and also Italian and international Sandwiches.

That’s joined by Starbene Caffe, featuring artisanal gelato and Puerto Rican coffee, along with a complete bakery.

There’s also a prosecco bar on the terrace.

Il Nuovo Mercato, which first opened last year, is set on the panoramic terrace of the Mall of San Juan.

For more information, visit Il Nuovo Mercato.
