Dominica’s Secret Bay to Reopen in November

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - January 1, 2018

In a significant boost for hard-hit Dominica’s tourism hopes, the island’s top hotel will reopen its doors in November.

The property, which has been closed since Hurricane Maria, has regularly found itself at the top of the rankings of the region’s best hotels (and the leader among Dominica resorts) since it opened in 2011.

Dominica’s Secret Bay will reopen Nov. 1, 2018 with six villas: Zabuco I, II and III, Ylang Ylang I & II and a new, larger Ti-Fey Villa.

All Secret Bay Villas will now offer private plunge pools.

A centrally-located, sit-down restaurant will be a new addition to the property, which will also continue offering its trademark private in-villa dining and personalized pre-stocking services.

Secret Bay will also have a yoga, spa and wellness pavilion set on a riverside location.

Secret Bay will also soon press forward with its planned Residences at Secret Bay, a real estate offering on the site.

“This path forward is, undoubtedly, the most trying option, both financially and physically; after all, less than one year pales in comparison to the 6+ it took to first shape our breathtaking, family-owned resort,” Secret Bay proprietor Gregor Nassief said in a statement. “But thoughtful restoration allows us to strengthen and build upon that which is paramount to our resort’s ethos—the beautiful Secret Bay community, comprised of guests, staff and the living breathing island that has taken root in the hearts of so many around the globe. “
