Margaritaville Grand Cayman Holds Soft Opening

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - April 21, 2017

The Caribbean’s newest Margaritaville has opened its doors.

Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Beach Resort Grand Cayman has welcomed its first guests with a soft opening on Seven Mile Beach.

“Select” guest rooms are now open at the property, according to a release, along with the resort’s open-air lobby, License to Chill Bar, Margaritaville Coffee Shop and 5 o’clock Somewhere Bar & Grill.

“We are delighted to welcome travelers to Margaritaville Beach Resort Grand Cayman, and excited to show the results of incredibly hard work that has taken place over the past year here,” said Howard Sitzer, chairman and CEO of HHG, the ownership group behind Margaritaville Beach Resort Grand Cayman, in a release on the company’s Web site. “We look forward to welcoming locals and tourists from afar to this very special resort, which is truly a piece of paradise.”

The property will introduce three new concepts to the Margaritaville brand, including YARA, Spread and Banana Wind Cafe.

The resort, set at the former Treasure Island hotel, is slated to be fully operational this fall.

Right now, rates start at $189 per night, according to the property’s Web site.

Upon completion, the resort will include 285 rooms, three pools, a swim-up bar, live entertainment and retail shops.

It’s the first Margaritaville-branded hotel in the Caribbean, although Margaritaville vacation clubs exist in St. Thomas and Puerto Rico.
