The Bahamas officially launched its Montagu Foreshore Redevelopment project, a large-scale facelift for one of New Providence’s historic waterfront areas.

The benefactor for the project is Kerzner International’s George Markantonis, who said the project is part of the Atlantis resort’s continuing commitment to the Bahamas.

“This makes over $25 million in investments and contributions we have made to the community that we live in,” he said.

The project includes beach replenishment, which means an expansion of the beach from one to almost three acres.

According to project engineer Dion Munroe, the scope of the work includes the addition of large boulders and sand to build the beach.
