The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association’s New President

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - January 21, 2016

A new beginning

By Alexander Britell

NASSAU — The Caribbean’s top private sector tourism association has a new leader.

Acting President Karolin Troubetzkoy has officially been ratified as the organization’s new president through June 2018, following action taken ahead of the CHTA’s Caribbean Travel Marketplace in Nassau this weekend.

Troubetzkoy will take office immediately as president of the association in advance of her term, which would have begun in June 2016.

She will be serving in the role through June 2018.

Troubetzkoy had been serving in the position on an acting basis when her predecessor, Emil Lee, stepped down to join the St Maarten Cabinet.

“In my role as President, I look forward to further expanding on our marketing, advocacy, sustainability, educational and culinary efforts. Going forward, we will seek even closer collaboration with public sector stakeholders,” she said. “Our mutual aim must be to further elevate the quality and appeal of the Caribbean as the world’s most desired tourism destination. There is much to be done and I am thankful to have the support of past presidents, national hotel and tourism association executives, dedicated members and partners and, especially, the CHTA team under the stellar leadership of CEO Frank Comito.”

Troubetzkoy, who has previously served as a director of the Saint Lucia Tourist Board and as president of the Saint Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association, has led the marketing and day-to-day operations of St Lucia’s Jade Mountain and Anse Chastanet resorts for more than three decades.
