Bahamas Set to Host Leading Caribbean Travel Conference at Atlantis

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - January 18, 2016

The Bahamas is set to host one of the Caribbean’s leading travel conferences this week.

The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association’s Caribbean Travel Marketplace is coming to the Atlantis Paradise Island resort from Jan. 21-23.

Marketplace, as it’s called in the industry, brings together buyers and suppliers from around the region; last year, buyers and suppliers scheduled 11,888 appointments at the event, which was held in San Juan.

“We look forward to bringing Caribbean Travel Marketplace back to The Bahamas in 2016 as an event that will expand the Caribbean brand globally with the introduction of new tour operators to our region’s diverse hospitality product,” said Karolin Troubetzkoy , the Acting President of the CHTA.

This year, CHTA says it is expanding its outreach to Latin America, targeting wholesalers in Latin America and emerging destinations as well as tour operators.

“Building upon the existing and longstanding portfolio of global operators conducting business in the Caribbean, CHTA is focusing on securing the participation of Latin American tour operators in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Panama, Peru and Venezuela and emerging destinations Russia, India, Scandinavia, Ukraine and the Middle East,” the CHTA said in a statement.
