The Grenadines’ private resort island of Petit St. Vincent announced today that it has joined National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World, a collection of boutique hotels which have a demonstrated commitment to sustainability, authenticity and excellence.

The 115-acre luxury Caribbean resort is the 25^th member of the newly formed collection of properties on six continents recognized as leaders in stewardship and extraordinary guest experiences.

Since 2011, the resort’s owners have made sustainability and preservation a priority. Jean-Michel Cousteau, son of the Jacques Cousteau, opened a dive center on the island in November 2014, and his Ocean Futures Society, a non-profit dedicated to protecting the planet’s oceans and marine life, is working with the island ongoing to develop systems to make the island more efficient as well as to create programs to help sustain and preserve marine life.
