The former Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort in Jamaica has relaunched with a new name and a new look.

The property is now called the Holiday Inn Resort Montego Bay, following a renovation project that included a full update to the rooms and four new restaurants, among other changes.

“It shows a confidence in Jamaica when our partners are investing in their properties and keeping them on the move,” said Jamaica Tourism Minister Dr Wykeham McNeill. “This is truly good for Jamaica and I want to congratulate them and thank them for this.”

The 518-room property recently concluded a $15 million renovation project.

Kevin Hendrickson, the resort’s managing director, said the partnership between the property and InterContinental Hotel Group was continuing to grow.

“Since acquiring the property in 2008, the partnership has been very rewarding, as programmes and services they have put together, have taken the property to record levels of profit,” he said. “With the re-brand story today …we are confident that this upward trajectory will continue, as we see a very great future ahead of us.”
