New Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne has officially unveiled his new Cabinet.

The announcement comes after Browne’s Antigua Labour Party swept into power in last week’s election, taking 14 of 17 seats in Parliament.

Among the new members are Charles Fernandez as Foreign Affairs Minister and Asot Michael as Tourism and Economic Development Minister.

Another notable name is former Prime Minister Lester Bird, who has been named Senior Minister.

Browne held his first meeting of the 12-member Cabinet on Thursday, saying he expected them to be a “high-performance” team, urging them to work 12-hour days.

The Cabinet decided that Parliament will hold its first meeting on June 25, when the new members will be sworn in as Members of Parliament.

That date will also see the election of a new Speaker of the House of Representatives and a new President of the Senate.
