Honduras President Juan Orlando Hernandez met Friday with Organization of American States Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza at the latter’s office in Washington.

In a statement, the OAS said the two sides discussed “the political and economic situation in the region and exchanged ideas related to hemispheric security.”

Joining the pair at the meeting were Permanent Representative of Honduras to the OAS, Leonidas Rosa Bautista; Assistant Secretary General of the OAS, Albert Ramdin; the Chief of Staff of the Secretary General, Hugo de Zela and the Secretary for Multidimensional Security of the OAS, Adam Blackwell.

Hernandez also took part Friday in a conference of the Latin American Business Council at the OAS’ headquarters, explaining the details of what he called a “new model of investment” in Honduras.

Hernandez assumed office in late January.
