The government of Antigua and Barbuda has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Technology in Jamaica.

The agreement, which was signed by UTech President Professor Errol Morrison and Antigua Prime Minister Dr Baldwin Spencer, will explore areas like joint degree programmes, collaborative research and technology initiatives, among others.

It was signed during a visit to Antigua by Morrison, who delivered a pair of interactive lectures during his trip covering science and technology in the region and the excellence of Caribbean athletes.

Both sides agreed “to cooperate and share joint information on areas within the purview of the Ministries of Telecommunications, Science and Technology; Education, Gender, Sports and Youth Affairs and Health,” according to a statement from the government of Antigua.

The University of Technology, which is located in the greater Kingston area in Jamaica, was founded in 1958 and fully chartered in 1999 as a University.

It has a student population of more than 11,000.
